Okay guys, the biggest thing I have seen in all my years of hairdressing is the stigma behind not washing your hair. Our culture still is under the impression its "dirty" and gross if you don't. Or there's also "it feels dirty, therefore I must be dirty" Not true! Here are a few tips and tricks to balance out the oil/dryness of your scalp and hair from over washing...
#1 If you wash your hair every day, try shampooing every other day instead. And on the second day if its greasy at the root and dry on the ends, use a little dry shampoo on the roots or wear it up in a cute messy bun or style, or even just wear a cute hat/beanie and style out the front pieces.
#2 You can try co-washing. Utilizing a non silicone, paraben free, chemical free conditioner and on the second day, condition your hair and work in like a shampoo, rinse and then condition again leave in 2-3 minutes and rinse and style. Oil fights oil and in this case, your cleansing your hair with a conditioner so its not drying out your scalp, and you are able to re-style from wet to dry.
#3 If you shampoo every day and are getting greasy by the end of the day, its most likely because your scalp is actually dry from over washing, thus your body is telling your scalp to produce more oil to compensate! So go ahead and try oiling your scalp with Romavi Strong Scalp Thirst Quencher by iYura oils before you shampoo. Only put conditioner on the tips of your hair cleansing the oil out. Try this trick, as you continue to extend your shampooing out further and further, trying to reach 1x week.
#4 Get creative on styling!
Day 1 Shampoo and wear sleek or straight
Day 2 Dry shampoo roots, heat protectant on ends and then curl, style to your desired curl ie; lived in, beachy, boho or lush bouncy tight curls.
Day 3 Brush or Comb through and wear up in a fun messy bun, updo or half up
Day 4 Wear a hat, head scarf, head wrap or hair accessory to cover most of your hair
Day 5 Co-wash and start with whatever style you want:)
Day 6 FINALLY a REAL SHAMPOO! Look at that....you went 6 Days without shampooing!
****Remember everyone is different. What works for one person wont work for others. Don't stress about what you think you should do or compare to others. JUST HAVE FUN with it. Play around with these ideas and see what works and what doesn't work for you!
Peace YOLO,
